WHAT A HIT!
For my birthday, my sweet husband got tickets at the Phoenix Theater for the off Broadway production in Phoenix of
THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES!
He thought of it all himself! He got the tickets and arranged for dinner by the theater before the play. I have to say, the production itself sounded a bit odd, but it was a fun evening. Four women put on the entire production and did a fantastic job. It is about a group of women being chosen to sing at their high school prom. Since it took place in the '50s, the story was worked around the songs of that era. The song titles were woven into the script and some even became characters in the story (Mr. Lee). The second act took place 10 years later at their high school reunion and the same group was chosen to sing for that occasion as well. Again the song titles (now of the 60s) were part of the story and the singing of them was outstanding! Gregg and I chuckled to ourselves wondering what our kid's generation would think of the play, but in actuality, I do believe they would love it! The songs back then were sure a lot more innocent than the modern music lyrics. In one song, "Lipstick on Your Collar", the boyfriend leaves to get a soda pop (seriousely, a soda pop) but takes longer than expected getting back! WOW! Times were a whole lot more innocent back in the day.
Thanks Drudge!

So so glad you liked it!! Sounds like a great show!
Glad that you had a fun day. I really did think about you, even though we were pretty busy with five grandchildren and getting a sixth home to join his siblings! He was just born one day too early...but did come home on your birthday...another momentous occasion! Happy late birthday!
